MCWA Charitable Outreach Committee
the charitable outreach chair is Lindy Sollie and co-chair is Diana Emehiser
Our Mission & Commitment
The Outreach Committee is committed to serving the diverse needs of St. Johns County by carefully selecting nonprofit partners that advance employment, healthcare, housing stability, and animal welfare. Each organization is thoughtfully evaluated before being recommended to the MCWA Board of Directors.
Once approved, our community partners are supported through fundraising, volunteer service, special projects, and member donations, creating meaningful opportunities for members to give back and make a lasting impact throughout our community.
Our 2026–2027 Community Partners
Today's Special, Inc.
Today's Special creates meaningful employment opportunities for adults with autism, neurodiverse individuals, and others with disabilities through its community bakery and mobile vending program. By replacing traditional day programs with real employment, the organization helps individuals build confidence, financial independence, and meaningful connections within the community.
MCWA's Support
Funding will help purchase professionally branded, ADA-accessible vending tents, allowing Today's Special to participate in multiple community events and expand employment opportunities.
Community Impact
Expanding the mobile vending program will create additional jobs, increase community visibility, and establish a sustainable source of income that supports long-term growth while reducing reliance on charitable donations.
Unity Outreach, Inc.
Unity Outreach is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of uninsured and underserved residents by providing access to breast cancer education, free mammography screenings, patient navigation, and financial assistance for diagnostic and treatment services.
MCWA's Support
Funding will support additional Free Mammo Days, providing uninsured and underinsured women with access to potentially life-saving breast cancer screenings.
Community Impact
By removing financial barriers to care, this partnership will help more women receive timely breast cancer screenings, increasing opportunities for early detection and improved treatment outcomes.
Emergency Services & Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County
The Emergency Services & Homeless Coalition works to prevent and end homelessness by providing emergency shelter, housing assistance, education, employment resources, and supportive services that help individuals and families achieve long-term stability.
MCWA's Support
Funding will provide technology workstations for the Children's Education Center and Employment Resource Center, supporting:
Educational programming for children
Homework and tutoring assistance
Employment searches
Résumé development
Workforce training
Career readiness
Community Impact
Access to technology will improve educational opportunities for children while helping adults develop the skills needed to secure employment, build financial independence, and achieve long-term housing stability.
Ayla's Acres Animal Rescue
Ayla's Acres Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned, abused, and neglected animals throughout St. Johns County and the surrounding areas while promoting responsible pet ownership through education and community outreach.
MCWA's Support
Ayla's Acres has been selected as our 2026–2027 Angel Tree recipient. Through the Angel Tree program, members will donate much-needed supplies, including:
Pet food
Bedding
Cleaning supplies
Toys
Treats
Leashes and collars
Medical and shelter supplies
Community Impact
These donations provide immediate support for rescued animals while allowing Ayla's Acres to direct more of its financial resources toward veterinary care, rehabilitation, and future rescues.
